James William Spencer was born in Eudora, DeSoto County, Mississippi. He married Nina Lucy (Brooks) in 1885. They lived
in DeSoto County until about 1889. After the birth of their second child they then moved by train to the community of Rock
Bluff, Comanche County, Texas. They stayed there until about 1897 and then moved to Beaukies in Lee County, near the Yequa
River. After February 1904, the family moved by covered wagon back to Rock Bluff before coming to Arp, Smith County, Texas
in 1911 on a train.
